As the saying goes- Babies are always busy drinking milk, sleeping and pooping when they are born.
This is partially true, but the other reality is that babies start observing the environment around them early on, and the development process starts as soon as they open their eyes. So, it becomes crucial for parents to help their baby develop senses for overall growth.
Ideally, from the age of one month, appropriate toys can be introduced into your little one’s life. It might seem early, but it is essential for your baby’s development for various reasons. One of the reasons is that your little one starts to notice things at this point and bringing in engaging things like toys will keep their mind occupied.
Listing few toys that are great for infants:
SOOTHERS
It’s the favourite amongst parents and for a good reason, or as we say, Reasons. Also known as pacifiers, it is safe for the baby and helps keep them busy when awake as well as when sleeping. It also helps soothe crying babies as they love sucking on things that appear closer to the nipples. One thing to take extreme care of while giving your baby the soother is - hygiene. Soothers should be washed after every use and sterilised daily.
SENSORY TOYS
Sensory toys are those that respond when the baby touches them. They can react in quirk, trill or tweet when pressed or shaken. Younglings learn things rapidly, and sensory toys can come in handy during such times. They are most helpful in the cognitive growth of the kid. The toys also help calm a cranky baby as it’s an easy distraction.
MUSICAL TOYS
While we are at sensory toys, there's one super helpful kind: the musical toy. It plays an essential role in the overall development of your baby. The mind and body work simultaneously while playing with these musical toys, which in turn may help the baby to develop social-emotional, intellectual, language and motor skills. Also, it's a great tool for comforting a moody baby.
HANDHELD TOYS
A toddler is incapable of holding something due to how tiny they are. But allowing them to observe and keep things closer to them helps with their sensory growth. Babies at the age of 1 month cannot see things that are far off, so handheld toys that resemble their surrounding comes in handy. They can touch it, try to grab it and in the process, they remain busy, and their mind is focused.
